Measuring, manufacturing and lead times for shutters in Portugal
What a good survey looks like, how long UK-manufactured shutters take to arrive in the Algarve, and how to plan around a renovation timeline.

How long does it take to get plantation shutters in Portugal?
Around 8–10 weeks from signed order to installed shutters. That covers a full survey, factory manufacturing in the UK, palletised shipping to the Algarve, and a 1–3 day installation depending on scope.
Do I need to be on site for the survey?
Yes for the initial visit — we discuss finishes, panel configurations and hardware in the space. Follow-up work is remote and we send visual proposals for approval before manufacture.
Week 1: survey and design
The technical visit takes 60–90 minutes for an average villa. We laser-measure every opening, discuss frame type (L-frame, Z-frame or bead-fit), panel splits, louvre size and finish, and photograph any awkward reveals.
You receive a fixed quote and visual proposal within 3–5 working days. Nothing goes to manufacture until you approve panel drawings.
Weeks 2–8: manufacturing and shipping
Panels are built to order in our UK atelier. Timber is kiln-dried, machined, sanded, primed and factory-finished. Aluminium panels are cut, welded, powder-coated and assembled with stainless hardware.
Finished panels are palletised and shipped by dedicated haulier to the Algarve — around 4–5 days transit door-to-door.
Week 9–10: installation
Two fitters install an average villa in 1–3 days. We protect floors and finishes, and handle any minor plaster reveal work in the same visit.
A final walk-through checks louvre tension, tilt-rod alignment and panel travel. You get a written care sheet and the warranty documentation on completion.
